The adapter uses the PCIe signal available through compatible M.2 A/E-Key interfaces, allowing an otherwise unused wireless-card slot to support an NVMe drive where the motherboard configuration permits it. Because A/E-Key slots typically provide fewer PCIe lanes than a dedicated NVMe M-Key slot, SSD performance is limited by the PCIe generation and lane configuration of the host system.

According to the supplier, expected transfer speeds may reach approximately 100–250MB/s on PCIe 1.0, 300–400MB/s on PCIe 2.0 and 600–800MB/s on PCIe 3.0 configurations. These figures depend on the motherboard, available PCIe bandwidth, SSD and overall system configuration.

This adapter is intended specifically for compatible M.2 A-Key or E-Key interfaces and is not suitable for other M.2 key types. The supplier also advises that CNVi-based wireless slots are not compatible, so motherboard and slot specifications should be checked carefully before ordering.
